Loving Lice

"My life is but a weaving,
 between my God and me.
I do not choose the colors,
He works steadily.
Offtimes He weaveth sorrow, and I,
in foolish pride,
Forget He sees the upper, and I,
the underside.
Not till the loom is silent and
the shuttle cease to fly,
will God unroll the canvas and
explain the reason why,
the darkest threads are as needful in
the skillful Weaver's hand,
As the threads of gold and silver in the
pattern He has planned."

-Corrie Ten Boom

I love Corrie Ten Boom and her amazing story of courage and love in the midst of horrendous persecution by the Nazi's.  She tells her account in the book, The Hiding Place (which I highly recommend :)  There was one particular part of the book that I love...I haven't read the book in a long time, but this story was such a reminder to me today...
Corrie and her sister Betsy had arrived at the concentration camp and after much persecution, arrived at their barracks.  After a few days they found that their barracks was lice infested. Corrie was upset and told Betsy that she didn't know how she was going to sleep at night knowing that their beds were full of lice.  Betsy, in her always gentle spirit, reminded Corrie that she must thank God for everything.
After a while, Corrie began to wonder why the guards never came to check their barracks as they did the others.  It was found out that the guards never came because of the lice.  Betsy and Corrie led Bible studies each night without fear, knowing that the guards would not enter their barracks..thanks to the lice!
I just love how God can use what we see as suffering to ultimately bless us and glorify Himself!

My God shall supply all your needs in Christ Jesus...even it it looks like lice!
